Inmates may release all or part of their personal property when requesting a property release. An inmate can release his/her property to anyone they choose including their attorney, public defender, probation officer or caseworker. The person picking up the property will need to provide a valid government issued picture identification card (ID) such as a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) identification card/drivers license that is current and valid. An Immigration card (work visa or resident alien card) presented with a DMV card is acceptable. Picture ID’s made at swap meets, or store ID card such as Sam’s Club are not valid ID’s. Inmates may also release any part or all of the funds in their inmate accounts to a person they designate. A check will be issued from the inmates account to the party designated by the inmate. As with the inmates’ property, Proper ID is required to release the check. Any inmate sentenced to ADOC must release all of their property/clothing before they are transferred to ADOC. The inmate signs a copy of the 90 day notice at the time of booking. The inmate must enter a property release request in writing, at which time the inmate will be provided a property release form to be completed by the inmate, and will be kept on file for the 90 day period. The inmate’s property will be stored for 90 days and then disposed of
